Laurie & Me

I “ virtually” met Laurie from Dalla Mia Cucinaa year ago via Daring Bakers. We completed the monthly challenge, she saw that I was living in the same area and she contacted me. We stayed in contact through our Blog during a complete year, commenting on each one blog. I enjoyed her blog a lot, full of unusual recipes, she is also a very talented photographer. I love of course the huge selection of her recipes under so many categories but I like the “Temecula” section, I remember a post about Temecula in December, her pictures were the ones of a real pro and they should had been edited in the local press! She captured the spirit of Temecula Valley so well!
I knew only a few things about her, so I was very happy when she accepted to meet me over a coffee at a little Coffee shop/ Café Vallee d’Brumes Vallee d’Brumesin Temecula, CA.
This place is quaint, with lovely Country style objects and of course a wonderful selection of fresh baked cookies, cakes, petits fours, breads, croissants and viennoiserie. On the top they have a nice selection of teas and coffees.
When I came in I was not sure if Laurie would be in or not I knew vaguely her face from her blog but you never know until you meet the person.
When I entered I saw some friends or mine who were enjoying a lovely plate of French crepes. I guess when you have a nice café in your area this place become popular, because we live in the suburb where Starbucks are the only Coffee shop more or less, so having a quaint, cute place for coffee is spreading fast. Actually last Tuesday it was packed, when you see how the country’s economy is doing you can’t believe people are still going out for breakfast on week days…
I ordered a Mango tea and a Palmier cookie. The Palmier was excellent buttery and light . Laurie entered with a big smile holding a lovely herb plants with a Paris Eiffel Tower tins ( thank you this is so lovely) , it was a gift as a warm housing since I moved into a new house one month ago. I was so happy to see her. She looked happy too. We chatted for more than one hour her kids were sick so she wanted to check on them and I had to pick up my kids from school, but if it was not the case I am sure we would have stayed all day long chatting and laughing. Laurie is a very kind, sweet person with sparkling eyes, she has a beautiful smile but she smiles also with her eyes. She is a very active person, dedicated to her entire family she is raising 4 kids and is into writing a lot. She is a writer for the well acclaimed examiner.com and is working a lot on her blog, her blog is really lovely and colorful. She is a passionate person and we talk about a lot of topics. We shared ideas about how improve our blogs, get more readers. She was a good listener and had great ideas about my “quest” for educating people for a healthy cooking, food and way of life in the Valley.
I had a relaxing time that Tuesday ( even if I had a bad cold). We promised that we will see each other regularly we even decided to cook together “ a quatre mains” soon.
Next week we may meet for another coffee but this time in Old Town Temecula… I hope it will become a routine to see each other regularly this is so hard when you have a family, a house, and passion ….24 hours is never enough!
A bientot Laurie!

    Dear Celine!
    Greetings from Shizuoka, Japan!
I have the impression of being of French origin, but I shall keep to English for the moment. In case you are French, too, then we can converse in our Gallic dialect! LOL
Looking forward to reading you soon!
    Cheers,
