Food is love, food is beauty, and it is wellness.

I never believed in diets. Except for medical reasons strickly recommended by a physician or if you have food sensitivity, food allergy or intolerence.

I do not think restrictions in food or anything in life is healthy. Why should we struggle before putting something in our mouth? Eating should be a delicious moment.

Making food and giving through food is part of my love language. I’ve always cooked for my family, my kids, and friends.

Of course “Food is medicine” and we should take seriously what we eat. Many nutrients in food promote health and protect your body from disease.

Eating whole, nutritious foods is important because their unique substances work synergistically to create an effect that can’t be replicated by taking a supplement.

For as far as I can remember I have always eaten whatever I wanted. I did not know there was a name for it : Intuitive eating. It’s a simple way to eat all types of food. Unlike traditional diets that restrict or ban certain foods, intuitive eating requires you to stop looking at food as “good” or “bad.” Instead, you listen and trust your body and eat what feels right for you and how much to eat.

Intuitive eating is about trusting your inner body wisdom, your “gut” to make choices around food that feel good inside your body, without judgment and without influence from diet culture. We all know when food makes us feel good , or not well, or sleepy, or bloated or without energy.

Ultimately, you are the expert of your body.  Only you know what hunger, fullness, and satisfaction feels like.  Only you know your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.  Intuitive Eating is an empowerment tool–it’s time to unleash it and liberate yourself from the prison of diet culture and weight obsession.

Principles of Intuitive Eating

  • Honor your hunger
  • Make peace with food
  • Discover the satiation factor
  • Feel your fullness
  • Cope with your emotions with kindness
  • Respect your body
  • Movement—feel the difference
  • Honor your health—gentle nutrition

But intuitive eating means also mindful eating.

Mindful eating is an awareness of the food, the appearance, the smell, the source of the food , the amount of food, that is being taken in, the satisfaction and fullness it provides.

I have been a Wellness and Nutrition Consultant for more than 10 years, I have seen so many of my clients falling off the wagon and be lost after they embarked in trendy diet and needed some guidance and help to get back on track. The truth is that a specific diet is a huge commitment, to plan the menu, buy the required ingredient, cook food in a certain way and this, every single day, depending on the diet chosen it could be very rigid and austere. In my opinion food should be delicious, tasty and nutritious under some mindful choices.

Mindfulness is the capacity to bring full attention and awareness to one’s experience, in the moment, without judgment. Mindful Eating brings mindfulness to food choice and the experience of eating. Mindful eating helps us become aware of our thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations related to eating, reconnecting us with our innate inner wisdom about hunger and satiety.” – The Centre for Mindful Eating

Principles of Mindful Eating

  • Minimizing distractions while eating: turning off the TV , keeping your phone out of reach
  • Savoring food’s tastes
  • Experiencing food with all five senses: Sight, Sound, Smell, Taste, and Touch, yes you can eat with your hands time to time
  • Eating slowly and chewing while eating
  • Taking smaller bites or setting down utensils between bites. Actually eating with chopsticks is perfect.
  • Practicing gratitude: offering thankfulness before meals
  • Paying close attention to the body’s hunger and fullness cues while eating
  • Acknowledging feelings about or responses to various foods without judgment
